Dear
Professor Susan Garreis,
Thank you for your comments and corrections.
In
fact, China's students don't get a chance to practice foreign languages and
soon they are forgotten, too.
>I hope you will always remember your English. This is
an intense practice of it, I think.
I saw the news that the US government shut down.
House canft to reach agreement on a new budget. Gold prices fell sharply.
I think it will be over soon.
It has little effect for ordinary people. But the
one who travel to the US may be disappointed. A lot of attractions shut down,
too.
>>If the shutdown goes on longer, more and more
ordinary people will be affected in ways that cannot be recovered. Many
tourists in the US have had to change their plans at the last minute. Some have
wasted their money travelling to a site that is closed. That is a shame,
especially for foreign tourists. Some foreign tourists say they won't come
back. I don't blame them.
>>If we do not extend our debt ceiling, other
countries will not want to buy our bonds. Or the US must increase the interest
rate so that other countries will buy the bonds. That will cost us more money
in the long run. That is not a wise way to run a government.
>>I hope it is over soon!
Have
you been to an old historical site in Japan or China? What was the name of the
place? How old was the place?
In
1987 I went to Kyoto for a conference. We visited Shoren-in Temple. It is
thousands of years old. I do not know the date it was first built. It was
beautiful! So peaceful! I still can picture it in my mind.
Sincerely
Fatty
