ODN has a nice site. It has an English version. I'm surprised! The monthly

rate for ODN's dialup service is $17.92 (1950 Japanese Yen) a month. That's

about the same price as my dialup. That surprised me, too! I thought dialup

service would be more expensive in Japan.

OCN has an English page with lots of information, too. By looking at their

charges, I see that the total monthly cost of dialup service may be a little

more expensive than I thought. Here, it costs me $19.95 per month for the ISP

(Verizon). In addition, I pay a separate bill for my phone lines. I would

pay that bill whether I had a computer or not. I bought an extra phone line

for the computer. That costs about $10 a month extra. There are no charges

for the connect time. Thank heaven! I am online for hours at a time.

The Hori CPA site looks more like American CPA firm sites. We have

conservative looking sites. We want people to feel comfortable trusting us to

give them advice on money. If the site is too "flashy," people might think we

are not reliable.

I think that people and companies will be directly connected by technology.

Next, people will become borderless through technology.

I think so, too. Look at us, for example!

No. It is STILL not decided. There is a very strong possibility that we will

not know until Christmas time. That is one month from now! Many people are

getting tired of hearing about all the delay. I think there will be several

changes in the type of machines we use to count votes after this!

Because the Mori Cabinet's approval rating is very low (15%).

The election for Japan's premier is not done by direct poll.

It is determined by the Diet.

From what I read and hear over here, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is in

trouble. The split sounds very deep. It sounds like interesting times for

you and everyone in Japan. When are you old enough to vote in Japan? In the

US, people are old enough to vote at 18. Many college students do not vote,

though. They are too busy studying. And it is harder to vote when you are

away from home.

The end of the course is here! This week's lesson has two parts.

1. A Summary of the Year

http://www72.homepage.villanova.edu/susan.stiner/cgu/summaryAll2k.htm

2. The Class Evaluation

http://www72.homepage.villanova.edu/susan.stiner/cgu/evaluate2k.htm

In the US at the end of the year, the professors ask the students to tell us

what they liked and didn't like about the course. You get the same chance

now.

Thursday, Nov. 23, is Thanksgiving. It is a big holiday in the US. It

celebrates a time when the country's first European settlers had a bountiful

harvest. They had a big festival with their American Indian neighbors. We

have kept that tradition of counting our blessings at the end of harvest

season. Thanksgiving is the third Thursday of November.

I made a page on Thanksgiving at

http://www72.homepage.villanova.edu/susan.stiner/cgu/thanksgiving.htm

On Thursday, I will spend the day at a good friend's house. She and I will

cook a turkey and a ham. I will have made a pumpkin pie the day before. A

third good friend will come over to that house, bringing more food. We will

sit down to a huge meal in the afternoon. Then we will all have to take a nap

with my friend's 3-year-old boy! It will be a fun day.

My kids will go to their father's house in the afternoon for a big meal. He

will cook a turkey and have other good food. They will probably have a fire

in the fireplace, since it is cool enough now for that. They will spend the

afternoon patting the dog, and she will wag her tail constantly!
