First, the volume is different because the three companies are big. Applied

Materials is a small or medium-scale enterprise.

Next, Microsoft's stock price quotation is high because Microsoft is a growth

industry.

I am surprised that the financial information of one company is found by

looking at many sources.

Fortunately, there are plenty of sources of financial information. The

company would have only the best information about itself. Other sources

would share good news as well as bad news about the company. If we use many

sources\, we can get a good picture of all the news about the company. Then

we can make an informed decision about the company.

I shake with fear . . .

I thought you would!! Glad you liked the humor.

> Dancinge skeleton is for fun.

The dancing skeleton is for fun.

I thought he was cute.

> Halloween is big festival?

Yes, it is. I was talking with some of my co-workers. We all agreed that we

look forward to Halloween every year. We enjoy it more than the other

holidays. It is a chance for us to be kids again.

When I handed out the candy I wore a pair of earrings that were dancing

skeletons. I wore a big black plastic bag like a shirt. I drew a skeleton on

a white plastic bag and taped that on top of the black plastic "shirt." I got

some strange looks from some of the kids!

> Do you see the small children dressed in costume?

Yes, very many. Many more than I expected! I gave away approximately 100

pieces of candy or snack food bags. I expected about 20 or 30. One hour

after the first child rang my doorbell, I had to go to the store for more!

That was unusual.

> Do you think that they pretty?

Do you think that they were pretty?

I think that the small children were very cute. Some of the 2, 3 and 4

year-olds came dressed as bunnies or pumpkins or Pikachu. Some of the girls

were pretty princesses. Some of the older children (boys and girls) were

funny! They use their imaginations and dress like ghosts or vampires. And

some of the very old "children," 16,17 or 18 years old, just wanted candy for

free. They came with no costume. They had pillow cases to hold their loot! A

pillow case is about a meter deep and half a meter wide. It can hold a lot of

candy.

We had a very unusual week in the US this past week. We had our presidential

election. Every four years we go to the polls on the first Tuesday in November

and vote for president. Usually, we know who will be president by the wee

hours of Wednesday.

This time we don't know! The votes were so close that no one can officially be

declared a winner yet. Usually, there is a strong preference for one candidate

over the other. So there is no doubt who will be the new president next

January.

We are all startled at this outcome. I think we Americans will think again

about how we elect our president. I won't be surprised if we get rid of the

"Electoral College." It is not a real university. It is a system of using the

popular vote to indirectly pick a president. The system worked well in the

early days of our nation. It does not work so well 200 years later.

And this election showed that there are many difficulties with getting an

accurate way of voting. I think the US will use many more computers to record

votes in the next election!

This week's lesson is at:

We will talk a little about how technology is changing.
