Lesson 16

Dear Professor Garreis,

Thank you for your reply and corrections of my English.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOjQwyVbJl4

>It was very good music.

-->I am glad you liked the music.

I want to introduce my favorite actress.

My favorite actress is Nao Matsushita.

She is an actress and a pianist.

In addition, she is a singer and a composer.

http://www.matsushita-nao.com/

The reason why I like her is that she is a beautiful-looking woman.

-->Yes, she is very lovely.

There is another reason that she is liked as well as she is.

That is because, in addition to a beautiful singing voice, she is an accomplished pianist and a splendid actress.

-->Yes, she is all that.

-->I listened to a piano selection as I typed this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqncvNdmGl4. So restful!

She is 174 cm tall.

-->She is very tall!

Whenever I watch her on TV, I wish she were my older sister!

-->How lucky if she were your older sister!

Hearts are always healed whenever her piano sings.

-->What a wonderful way to express your thought!

-->It sounds like the beginning of a haiku to me:

Hearts are always healed

When her grand piano sings.

Ears sigh in pleasure.

-->Do you write haiku?

I sent the URL of the animation which a performance and the singing voice of her piano listened to below.

I listen, and, please send an impression.

-->We picked the same song! I loved it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SP6P7dEgwk

-->Unfortunately, Sony won't let us watch this in the US.

-->I did find this on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl1d4rhv_9c

-->Her voice is very pleasing. It is smooth and relaxing. I really liked listening to her. Thank you for telling me about her.

But I may urgently elect you when a political party holding the political power has been dissolved at the expiration in the wound middle in the term of office for four years.

-->I am not sure what you mean. I think you said if you could vote here in the US, you would vote for me if the main political party choices were bad. Thank you!

I want to write my impressions as I look back on this one-year class with Prof. Garreis.

In the beginning, the class had very difficult English sentences in the emails from Prof. Garreis. I read them over and over and puzzled over their meaning.

I approached very seriously the English sentences in the emails from Prof. Garreis. I had a hard time doing the homework.

However, gradually this class became fun as Prof. Garreis and I continued to exchange emails.

Communication in English sentences became more fun every week.

It was very serious work. Especially in the beginning, I consulted a dictionary very often. Eventually, those hard questions and homework from my teacher became something fun.

The year that seemed to be so long is really short. The emails from Prof. Garreis; the English sentences; the exchanges; the thoughts that I struggled to communicate--there was some fun after all. I have glad and thankful feelings.

In addition, I am thankful for what I learned through my English emails with you.

Please take very good care of yourself from now on. I will do my best to work hard from now on, too.

It was a short interval after all. Thank you very much, Prof. Garreis, for what I thought would be a long year.

I had a very nice time.

Finally I send a wonderful song from me.

 I listen, and, please send an impression.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6Q31YsNdtk

-->Thank you for the wonderful song! Ikimono Gakari has a wonderful voice. Her band sounds very good, too. It is a very large band.

I appreciate the kind thoughts. It is a wonderful good-bye gift! Thank you again.

Sincerely yours,

Genki
