Dear Prof. Stiner
It was surprised by the what heavy rain has not been seen when it is in China. It is uncanny.
Typhoon Tokage left at least 67 people dead, 21 missing and more than 350 injured as it cleared Japan on Thursday morning
after wreaking the worst carnage by a typhoon in 25 years.
Rescue workers help those who were stranded atop a sightseeing bus in Maizuru, Kyoto Prefecture, to safety.
(Sankei Shimbun photo) Below, workers on Thursday examine the site of a train derailment on the JR Iida Line in Tatsuno,
Nagano Prefecture.
The typhoon brought downpours and strong winds that destroyed houses and important cultural properties.
It also disrupted transportation services across the country before being downgraded to an extratropical depression around 9 a.m.
The number of casualties caused by Tokage, which means lizard and is the Japanese name for the Lacerta constellation,
was the worst since an October 1979 typhoon that left 115 dead or missing, the Cabinet Office said.

Thank you for the quotes about the typhoon.  What was it like in Chiba?

Today was the Halloween parade in my hometown.

This page describes the Halloween parade:

http://newark.de.us/docs/departments/halloween_2004.html

Every year there is a Halloween parade down Main Street.  I was there with the Girl Scouts.
The Brownie Scouts in my granddaughter's troop dressed as firefighters and police officers.
Many children dressed as soldiers this year.  High school bands march in the parade.  Many politicians march, too.
The election is about ten days away. The politicians want the voters to see them.  Some people drove their very old cars in the parade.
There were many high school bands in the parade.  There were lots of fire trucks, too.  Many people lined the street to watch the parade.
It was a lot of fun to walk in the parade.

    We saw many great costumes!

This week the new lesson is about some ways that technology is changing.
