And it is a beautiful flower!  We are fortunate that the Japanese people

gave the US many wonderful cherry trees to put in our capital city.

The cherry blossoms are so beautiful when they bloom!

Yes, it is.  A picnic under the cherry trees must be wonderful.

Did you have a picnic in April under the cherry trees?

Reading, speaking and writing are three separate language skills.

Do you get much chance to practice speaking English?

For homework this week:

1. Tell me what browser you use when you are on the Internet.  I use Netscape 4.7.

  I use Netscape 4.7, too.

2. Do you usually connect to the Internet from home or from school when you do the work for this course? Is your

connection fast or slow?  I connect from home, using my Comcast cable connection.  It is a fast line.

I connect to the Internet from school. My connection is pretty fast.

3.  What day of the week and what time of day do you first check for my reply to your message?  I usually write my

messages on Sunday afternoon in Newark.  When I am finished, it is Monday morning in Chiba.

I check your reply on Tuesday noon in Chiba.

4. Visit America's largest telecommunications company, AT&T, and see recent financial highlights.  What is its

revenue for the year 2001?

$52,550,000,000 (fifty-two billion, five hundred fifty million US dollars)

5. Visit Villanova University, and see the Department of Accountancy.

  I saw Department of Accountancy.

6. Use any search engine to search the Net for "balance sheet." Tell me how many "hits" you have, i.e., how many

documents have that phrase in it? Tell me what search engine you used.  For example, I used Google to find

"balance sheet."  There were 932,000 (nine hundred thirty-two thousand) hits.

I  used yahoo to find it. There were 2,010 hits.

7. Finally, visit a very helpful Internet site for accounting information (RAW).  It is maintained by Rutgers University

in New Jersey RAW homepage.

  I bookmarked .

 Sincerely,

       Mitsu
