Dear Rika,

Thank you for your third message.  My comments follow.

I become melancholy on rainy days.

I want to go outside!

I am sleepy on rainy days!  I love the sound of rain on the roof.

I wish I could curl up in bed and sleep to the rain lullaby.

On some rainy days, I go shopping.  Not many people like to shop in the rain.

I like to be in stores when they are not crowded.

If it rains lightly, I plant flowers in my garden.  They do well when planted in the rain.

What was your favorite attraction?

Were there water rides in the Park?  Did you get wet?

More purple petunias are in my garden now.  Look for their picture when I make this year's garden web page.

Your mother has a very nice garden!  The food she cooks must be delicious.

Home-grown vegetables are the best.  What is your favorite food when you eat at home?

I thought the school connection was a fast line!  Sometimes my school connection is very slow, too.

When many students check email, the line gets very slow.

Yes, it is elaborate.  It is sometimes hard to find things from that page.

Tell me what search engine you used.  For example, I used Google to find "balance sheet."

There were 932,000 (nine hundred thirty-two thousand) hits.

This week I finished the three quilt tops.  The teacher bought all the supplies.

I put the top, batting (stuffing) and back together.  I quilted the three tops.

They look nice.  I used my sewing machine.  But it took a long time to sew them!

An American quilt has three layers: top, batting (middle) and backing (bottom).

The top is usually a design made of several different colors of fabric sewn together.

The school quilt used red, blue and white squares.

The children drew patriotic pictures on the white squares.  The middle makes the quilt warm.

The backing of the school quilt was a solid piece of fabric with exploded fireworks on it.

The quilting holds all the layers together.  The three quilts look pretty when they are done.

I think the people at the retirement home will like them.

This week's lesson tells about several places on the Internet with financial information.
