1.A. Find a stock price quotation of Applied Materials from

Yahoo!Finance.  Tell me (1) the date and (2) time of the quote and (3)

the stock price.

1.B. Find any other source on the web for an Applied Materials stock

quote.  List the URL for your source.

2. Tell me each stock price quote that you found.  Are they the same as

the one listed on the company's web site at

http://www.appliedmaterials.com/financial/Stock_Quote_main.html?

The prices probably were the same, Taku.  When you checked the prices,

our markets were closed.  The stock quote services would all have the

closing price.  During the US day (Japan's night), the prices may be

different.  The services update their quotes at different times.

Sorry the homework was so hard.  What made the homework hard?

The problem of bacterial contamination is a very bad problem for the US

and the world.  What happened here can happen in any modern country.  It

is a scary situation.

This week we will talk about the role of technology.  The new lesson is

here:

http://www72.homepage.villanova.edu/susan.stiner/cgu/technology01.htm

Technology has changed the way accountants do business.  We "crunch the

numbers" with a fast computer, not a slow calculator.  We provide more

valuable services now.  Some firms get the financial data directly from

the client through computers.  They do not generate tons of paper in

each audit engagement.
