Dear Tomo,
Welcome back from summer break! I hope you had a good break.
Thank you for the tenth message. My comments follow.
This summer's terrorism was very bad. All of us in America were
shocked. We still struggle with the terrible reality.
All of my family and friends in NY and Washington DC are well. They
were not hurt in either bombing incident. I did not have family or
friends in the plane that crashed in PA. Nor did I have family or
friends that live near the PA crash site. So far none of my former
students were killed or missing in NY or DC. One of my former students
survived the WTC bombing. We were very lucky.
My oldest son is in the NJ (New Jersey) National Guard. His unit was
not called to serve yet. His unit might help guard an airport in New
Jersey. We will wait and see.
I send my condolences to you for all the Japanese people that died in
NY. They worked for several Japanese banks with offices in the World
Trade Center. I am very sorry for the loss of their lives. I am deeply
sorry for the suffering their families must bear.
The new lesson is a summary of what we did in the first part of the course. The page is at:

It is nice to talk to you again!
