The Kyuushu-Okinawa Summit 2000 was held in Japan on July 21-23.

An important topic for this summit was IT.

America seems to be advanced in it's use of IT.

Japan is behind the IT wave.
(In the US, we would say "behind the IT curve."

I hope this summit reforms IT in Japan.

Yukijirusi had ordinary profit (net income) of $200,000,000 in 1999-2000.

But, Yukijirusi had an ordinary loss (net loss) of $500,000,000 for the first
half of this year.

I am not sure what you mean in this sentence.

From the stories I read, SnowBrand did not communicate well with their
customers. The company did not act quickly when they first realized there was
a problem. Honesty and fast action are very important when their is a safety
problem with a product. Especially when the product is food that children
eat.
Is Snow Brand milk back on the store shelves? It may be very hard for the
company to recover from this loss.

Hukusimaken is near Tokyo. It has much beautiful countryside.

But I wasn't cooking the barbecue. My friends did the cooking.

Taka, this summer I spent much time making a garden in my backyard. You can
see some of the flowers here:
http://www72.homepage.villanova.edu/susan.stiner/garden.htm
The page has many pictures of my flowers. It may take too long to load. If
so, sorry!
The next lesson is on another American financial statement. This one is
called the Statement of Cash Flows. Cash is very important to investors and
creditors. This statement tells how the company received and spent cash. Next
week's lesson is here:
