The U.S. is having a very confusing presidential election. This has not
happened since 1888. Here is a website where you can see numbers from old

In our system, we are _not_ a democracy. We are a _republic_. That means
that We do not choose the president directly. We choose electors by
state. The electors are the "electoral college."
There are many places on the Web to get more news on the American

Our weather is cooler. The leaves have changed color. The maple tree
in my front yard is a bright yellow. We still have not had a frost. The
frost is late this year. I will plant tulips and daffodil bulbs soon.
