Dear Fumi,

Thank you for > The first message sent on > Date: 15 May 98 15:49:40.

Every week I will send your message back to you. The lines with words

you wrote will have ">" at the beginning of the line. Lines with my

words will not have ">" at the beginning.

I will also make comments on what you tell me each week. I will try to

keep my comments short!

Each week we will send a new lesson. The lessons are usually about

accounting in the U.S. However, this week the lesson is about

technology. I use Netscape Navigator as my Internet browser. I use

Word97 to type documents. This message has two attachments. The

attachments are identical. One is sent as a Word97 file. The other is

sent as plain text. Please tell me if you were able to open the

attachments. If yes, please answer the questions. If you can open both

attachments, please answer only one set of questions.

Fumi, your English is great! How old were you when you started to study

English? Do you plan to use English in your job when you graduate from

Chuo Gakuin? How many other languages do you know?

As you mentioned, speaking and writing a language are different from

reading it. I can't help on the spoken word (I don't have streaming

audio!), but I can give you practice in writing English.
